Astrophysics

Astrophysics is the study of the physical properties and characteristics of celestial objects, such as stars, galaxies, extrasolar planets, nebulae, black holes etc, as well as other properties of the universe related to cosmology, such as the cosmic background radiation and the interstellar medium.

Astrophysics is a highly theoretical as well as an observational field of study and links to many other scientific disciplines, such as celestial mechanics, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, relativity theory, field theory, nuclear, atomic and molecular physics, to name a few.
